Isaiah Guy Brown: there is so much in a name... We had so many great boy names on the list, it took us forever to get to 2. We're glad we waited to meet him before officially picking the one. Just into the world, Ty called him Zai before he meant to, and I had a feeling the moment he was in my arms.
His name story: Isaiah is a Hebrew name, meaning "the Salvation of the Lord" and from additional sources: "the Lord is generous, God's helper." We wanted a name that was princely, poetic and yet grounded. We also wanted a strong name of a biblical hero for our firstborn son, so he'd always have a "role model" and inspiration through life. And while a prophet may not be a typical choice, Isaiah had an incredible call on his life, was used profoundly by the Lord, and left a legacy by stepping out in faith-- (he was also very eloquent, which the writer in me appreciates!) We wanted a name that was unique but recognizable, with great nickname options, of course (so far Zai, said Zay, is sticking)! His middle name has been set in stone since before we married (if we had a boy). Ty's beloved grandpa's name was Guy, and along with it's meaning of "warrior," I love having a strong meaningful name honoring family.
Whether he is a rock star, an architect, a forest ranger or a kindergarten teacher when he grows up, we hope his name will suit the man he becomes from the boy he is today, to the legacy he leaves behind someday. #myisaiahguy Steal-my-heart photo by daddy (aka @tylerbrownstudio)
